A day like an outlaw in the Glacierfjords

A lowlands hike on the stage where Fjalla-Eyvindur(Mountain-Eyvindur), Iceland´s most famous outlaw, lived and died.  The remarkable story of Fjalla-Eyvindur will be told, and the history of the area and of the people that lived there, by an experienced guide.  You will enjoy the beautiful landscape and flora.

The hike is in the abandoned area of the Glacierfjords, as the last farmers moved away int the beginning of the 1950´s. On the way you will need to cross a glacier river, with only a 3 km distance to Westfjords only Glacier, Drangajökull.

The hike is about 12 km.

 

NOTE! Participation in this tour requires warm and wind/waterproof clothes, solid hiking boots, gloves and cap, a lunch pack and something to drink! Wading shoes are optional, but it would be a good idea to bring a small towel to dry your feet after being in the water. And don't forget to bring your camera
